sa-vour experiences

Our SEVEN day itineraries are targeted at guests wanting a culinary holiday experience. These itineraries combine a mix of city and country and there is a balanced mix of activities and leisure time. The beauty is that once you get here you are truly on holiday. All the thinking and planning is done for you. We will surprise and delight you and your fellow guests with all things food and wine. Your biggest decision may be whether you go for a walk or lie by the pool, what choice you should make off the lunch menu, or whether to indulge in another glass of wine.

Our THREE day itineraries are for those guests looking for a shorter getaway. These are suitable for travellers wanting an add-on to their existing holiday plans, for groups looking for a long weekend or mid-week getaway, special occasion celebrations, girls’ (or boys’) weekends, or for Corporate team building. These programmes are based out of one location but still give the guest a varied and indulgent foodie experience.

Should the planned itineraries not meet your requirements and you prefer to book a custom made tour, which encompasses particular interests or caters for a specific group or timing outside the scheduled dates, this can be arranged.

Please either call Jacqui on +27 82 494 3397 or e mail her on with a short description of your requirements and every effort will be made to satisfy your request.

With sa-vour anything is possible!

sa-vour a meal with a local

There is no better way to discover a place and its people than via food. In addition to  enjoying authentic food, dining in the  home of a local can lead to insider travel tips, additional connections around the country, and friendship. Guests get to meet their local hosts , local guests and  other visitors which connects you  with likeminded people who share a love of food and travelling. It’s as great for solo travellers looking for company as it is for groups. Even locals may choose to dine at a home as an alternative to restaurant dining.

Join  sa-vour for a personal and truly local Cape Town food experience

This is an opportunity to experience the Cape through the eyes of a local. Get a real feel for Cape Town and South Africa,  for the culture,  how people live, what they do, what they think, what they eat, where they shop, what they talk about ..

You are invited to dine and enjoy an evening  in the company and conversation of  locals. Experience  great food paired with Cape wines in the beautiful Atlantic Sea Board home of a Capetonian . whilst you get real insights into  Cape Town from your hosts and their guests.

Depending on the time of year and the weather and also guests’ preferences , guests can enjoy a traditional South African meal, a Gourmet braai or even a menu of their choice.

A traditional South African menu would comprise the following

Start with a delicious Butternut Soup  or perhaps snoek pate .. , for mains  Bobotie (a South African dish consisting of spiced minced meat baked with an egg topping)  or Waterblommetjie Bredie  (a traditional South African stew containing lamb & an indigenous plant called waterblommetjies) and to end off Malva Pudding , or Koeksusters .

Alternatively enjoy a Gourmet Braai

One of South Africa’s best known traditions is a braai . This is our special local version of a barbeque. Enjoy learning about the traditions of the South African braai and then enjoy a delicious three course braai meal with all the accompaniments. Of course a braai would not be the same if not accompanied by a range of spectacular South Africa wines

A typical braai menu would comprise a selection of the following

For starters

  • A selection of breads and local pates and relishes
  • Samoosas

For main course

  • Lamb sosaties (kebabs)
  • Boerewors  (local spiced sausage )
  • Beef fillet
  • A selection of seasonal salads
  • Pap en sous (traditional cornmeal eaten by locals served with a tomato and onion relish)

For dessert

  • Chocolate milktart
  • Koeksusters (South African version of a syrup coated doughnut)
  • Malva pudding

Should you wish, the experience can be extended and you can accompany your host to shop for the meal’s ingredients, thereby getting au fait with Cape Town shops and markets
